Donaldson Company Announces $14 Million Air Handler Contract

November 17, 2003
Company to provide more than 1,000 high-purity dust collection systems to Siemens Dematic

MINNEAPOLIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 17, 2003-- Global filtration solutions expert Donaldson Company, Inc. (NYSE:DCI) today announced a $14 million sale to Siemens Dematic Postal Automation L.P. of more than 1,000 sophisticated Donaldson Torit(R) dust collection units designed and manufactured by Donaldson's Industrial Filtration Solutions Group.

The contract calls for the supply of the ultra-efficient filtration systems as part of an $89.9M contract awarded to Siemens Dematic by the United States Postal Service (USPS) to design, manufacture and install Siemens' Ventilation and Filtration Systems (VFS) for use at 280 USPS postal centers in the continental U.S., Hawaii and Puerto Rico.

The systems are designed to reduce possible exposure to airborne particulates by USPS workers working at letter sorting machines. During mail processing, the system automatically pulls air through a series of filters that include both conventional filters and ultra-high efficiency HEPA filters.

The new VFS system is part of a larger, on-going USPS program and has undergone extensive efficiency testing by the National Institute of Safety and Health (NIOSH).

"Donaldson is delighted to have been selected by Siemens Dematic to supply a portion of the technology that will enhance the quality of the mail delivery system," said Jim Giertz, senior vice president in charge of Donaldson's Commercial and Industrial Filtration Group.
