Filter Visually Indicates Need for Replacement

MINNEAPOLIS, March 27 — Donaldson Company, Inc. (NYSE: DCI), today announced agreements with Davco Technology, LLC, and Detroit Diesel Corporation to manufacture and distribute a new extended life filter element for use in the Davco 382 Fuel Processor. Using Davco's EleMax™ filter technology, Donaldson will manufacture the filter element and Detroit Diesel Corporation will handle initial marketing and distribution.

The advanced Davco EleMax filter, available in the second quarter of 2001, will provide an accurate, visual method of determining when the fuel filter needs to be replaced. Users will benefit from extended filter change intervals and reduced parts and labor costs.

"This agreement leverages the superior filtration technology of Donaldson and Davco's expertise in heavy-duty fuel processing to make more efficient and effective filtration products for diesel engines used in commercial and off-road applications," said Ron Scriver, Medium and Heavy-Duty Commercial Vehicle group sales director, Donaldson Company. "It also leverages Detroit Diesel's expertise in marketing and distribution, enabling us to get the product to market faster and expedite its benefits to users."

Kevin Rucinski, president, Davco Technology, LLC, added, "With the introduction of the EleMax filter element, Davco Fuel Processors will achieve a new benchmark in filtration performance and service life over conventional filtration systems. The collaborative development effort between Donaldson, Detroit Diesel and Davco will position the Davco fuel management system as the optimal choice for those customers seeking best value and lowest operation cost for their applications."

Ed Hart, Performance Products Development manager, Detroit Diesel, said, "The EleMax filter gives Detroit Diesel a unique opportunity to take to market a product that offers extended change intervals, clean and safe disposal and significant savings to our customers. Davco's patent pending design is superior to any other long life fuel filtration product in the market today and we are proud to be the exclusive distribution network for EleMax."
